“et nubes pluant iustum”

Partita for Advent for 3 trumpets, organ and 4 timpani

(SW 1035)

Three trumpets, organ and timpani, that is the instrumentation for this Partita, in which the composer knows how to combine historical compositional techniques with modern ideas of sound in an original way, both in the formal structure and in a complex and strict contrapuntal structure. The work once again shows Christian Ridil as a representative of a kind of post-neoclassicism.

What great appeal polyphonic compositional technique can still have today can be heard and seen, especially in the final fifth movement, when the Gregorian Advent cantus "Rorate caeli de super" and the song “O Heiland, reiß die Himmel auf!”, which formed the basis of the work and was processed in the previous movements “by every trick in the book”, are interwoven with each other, resulting in an impressive, condensing final increase.
