Septet „Lachen und Weinen zu jeglicher Stunde“

(SW1006) (SW1007)
This work is a very personal exploration of the emotions cheerful and sad, and it is made clear how close these two moods often are adjacent. In addition, the piece contains impressions of a trip to Greece by the composer.
The septet is a mixed woodwind string septet for flute, oboe, bassoon and string quartet, which actually provided Oboe - can also be performed on the Bb clarinet - in authorization of the composer.
Thematically in this finely structured and musically sophisticated, four-movement work, there are used, among others, the famous Schubert song "Lachen und Weinen zu jeglicher Stunde" (D 770) and the "Stimme eines jungen Seemanns" from Wagner's "Tristan und Isolde" are used. The latter is varied in the 2nd sentence four times skillfully in association of different musical styles. Multiple penetrated by highly dissonant passages culminates the otherwise rather moving music in a boisterous, allusive "Balcanesca", the rhythmic transports the listener especially over the Danube countries to Greece. Take yourself and your listeners on a musical journey full of variety and excitement that only so bursting with ideas.
