(SW1045)
The present version of Ridil's Flute Concerto represents a reduction of the orchestra part to 2 pianos and 3 percussionists. In the solo part the soloist can fully live out his virtuosity, his part certainly represents a technical challenge. As the title suggests, stylistic French influences, such as those of the Group des Six, play a role here, which in their elegant suppleness blend wonderfully with elements of German neoclassicism; And yet the work is above all a "Ridil" in its rhythmic and formal sophistication. If, for example, the final movement, a palatial ragtime, unexpectedly and unexpectedly passes into a gavotte, then this is really worth listening to.
